A split second. That’s how long it takes for you to have insights into what is going on in a situation or with another person. It is not unusual to hear someone say to you, “you’ve nailed it”—it just comes natural for you to accurately read your surroundings.

You may find that people around you think you are a little hard headed because of the way you share what you are convinced is true. For you, speaking the truth, however blunt, is your duty, because sugar-coating your observations is more of an insult that offending someone with reality.

You were created to be someone who sees the truth of the matter. God has given you this motivation, which the Bible calls “prophetic.”

All along, that driving force that grounds your sense of truth and the voice you give it is from God. It’s a God-given gift you’ve been using all your life, and there’s more to it. While we use our gifts in everyday life, God’s purpose is for us to use them for him, and there’s nothing more fulfilling.

Being prophetic isn’t fortune telling, it’s truth telling. People with this gift love to listen for the clues of the truth around them, and since God is the ultimate source of truth, listening to him for truth is the created purpose of those with a prophetic gift.

Consider this—if God created you with a gift that drives your motivations, and if that gift is ultimately meant for use in the work God is doing around you, this means two things—
1. Using your gift in the work God is doing around you is the most fulfilling experience you can have because it means doing what you were created to do and….
2. Using your gift in the work God is doing around you is easy because it’s what comes natural for you anyway.

There aren’t any special requirements or hoops to jump through to begin to use your prophetic gift for God. In fact, it’s something you just start doing as you learn and grow……
