History

In September of 2005, The Rev. John Maher Jr. answered a call to the Diocese of Arizona to plant a church in the northern section of Peoria. The call to plant this church is a part of the larger vision of The Rt. Rev. Kirk Smith, Bishop of Arizona.

Bishop Smith is leading the diocese from a habit of maintenance to a focus on mission. A part of that vision is to plant ten new churches in the Diocese of Arizona in the next ten years. Prince of Peace, Peoria is the first of those ten new churches.

The church is currently located in the community of West Wing Mountain in the West Wing Elementary School multi purpose room in Peoria, Arizona. Prince of Peace is not just a place of worship. It is a place that acts as a focal point within the community. It draws the community together, strengthens its sense of continuity for individuals, aids in dealing with problems of the present and helps it to shape a better future.
